Katie Symonds, MPT, Registered Physiotherapist
Katie is passionate about helping people get back to what they love through a fun and supportive environment. She has a special interest in pelvic physiotherapy and feels that there is a significant need for understanding women’s health.
Katie has deepened her clinical experience through working in multiple places across Canada, New Zealand and Australia. She has learned how to advocate across diverse health care systems in order to support her patients in their recovery.
Katie studied her Master’s in Physical Therapy at Queen’s University and prior to that, obtained her Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology at the University of Victoria. She began her career in sports therapy and expanded into hospital settings, where she worked in post-operative care for orthopaedics, abdominal surgeries, and post-stroke recovery. All of which, she noticed, had overlap for pelvic physiotherapy needs.
Raised in the Comox Valley, Katie has always had a deep connection to movement. Her background in gymnastics, along with a love for hiking and biking, have fueled the understanding of physical performance and recovery. She is passionate about education—both her own and her patients’—and she strives to empower every individual to return to the activities that matter most!
